The Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade is Sunday, March 3, Oak Cliff (SW Dallas)
The parade begins at 4:00 pm.
All Jaguar vehicles are eligible, any model or year of manufacture. Coupes or Convertibles. No restrictions other than the Jaguar must be presentable and reflect well on the Club.
Last year, this parade was HUGE! Thousands of spectators lined the parade route screaming for beads.
Inclement weather may cause parade cancellation/postponement.
There is a required fee of $10 per car, payable to Clark Kirby. This fee will reimburse him for the $100 Entry Fee already paid to the parade organization.
Detailed information will only be emailed to those who register their interest with Clark Kirby and pay the $10 fee by Feb. 28th. Contact Clark for his mailing address: firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a family-friendly parade. No nudity, obscenities, or lewdness will be allowed. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed for parade participants or spectators.
Participants are required to have a minimum of 5 gross (60 dozen) of beads per vehicle. A gross is twelve dozen (144 strings of beads). So, a minimum is 720 individual strings. Other items, considered “children’s party favors” may substitute for beads: wrapped candy and bubble gum, whistles, rubber balls, tiny stuffed animals, chocolate coins, plastic doubloons, etc. All these items are available locally at Party City but they charge (high) retail prices. Numerous websites sell beads for much less. Be sure to get the best price for your 5 gross of beads. The parade producers recommend buying in bulk at ABC Party (1414 W. Davis St. Dallas 214-943-5588). But, the best price for 33” “Throw Beads”, if you order in time for shipment, is from eMardiGrasBeads.Com in Gulfport, MS:
$35.90 (+$16 shipping) for a case of 5 gross/60 dozen assorted-color 33” Throw beads
Participants may NOT hand out business cards, literature, fliers, or anything else that could be discarded by the spectators, becoming litter. Only Mardi Gras beads or other “throwables” are allowed. (Refer to list of throwables, above)
Car owners are encouraged to decorate their Jags in Mardi Gras livery: purple, gold and green.
Drivers of all vehicles must be able to show proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license at staging.
